Terms & Conditions

Version 1.0 · Effective 2026-10-16. Aligned to the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 — Schedule 4 (Home boarding for dogs) — and Cheshire West and Chester Council animal welfare licensing conditions.

1. The agreement

This agreement is between Sarah Bailey (trading as Sarah's Home Boarding, "the boarder") of 36 Roften Way, Hooton, Cheshire, CH66 7NH, and the owner named on the booking form ("the owner"), in relation to the dog(s) named on the booking form ("the dog").

2. Booking and deposit

A booking is only confirmed once the owner has completed the booking form, signed these terms, and paid a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the total booking value. The remaining balance is payable in full before the stay begins, by bank transfer, and must clear by the date given on the booking confirmation. The boarder does not accept payment at drop-off and is not obliged to accept the dog where the balance is unpaid. Regular weekly day boarding may instead be paid by standing order, by prior arrangement.

3. Rates and peak supplements

Rates are: £35 per dog per night (or £55 per night for two dogs from the same household) and £25 per dog per day boarding. Collection and drop-off are not offered: the owner brings and collects the dog. Peak supplements apply during school holidays, bank holidays, and Christmas/New Year, and are applied to overnight stays only. The total is confirmed on the booking form before payment.

4. Cancellation policy

5. The dog(s)

The owner confirms that the dog:

The owner must disclose any bite history, behavioural issues, medical conditions, or medication. The boarder reserves the right to refuse or end a stay if information proves inaccurate or the dog cannot be safely accommodated; in that case, the owner must collect the dog within 24 hours and no refund is given.

6. Care standards

The dog will be kept in a family home environment with access to a dedicated closable sleeping room, kitchen and enclosed garden, and will not have unsupervised access upstairs. Dogs are exercised daily on lead and, where safe, off lead in appropriate spaces. The boarder will not board more dogs at any one time than Cheshire West and Chester Council permits for these premises.

7. Emergency veterinary care

The owner authorises the boarder to seek veterinary treatment on the dog's behalf if, in the boarder's reasonable judgement, this is necessary. Where possible the boarder will use the owner's registered vet; where not, the boarder will use a local practice or the nearest available emergency practice. The owner agrees to reimburse the boarder for veterinary fees incurred, up to an authorised limit of £500 without further consent, and to authorise higher amounts by phone or WhatsApp where reachable. The boarder will make all reasonable efforts to contact the owner or the named emergency contact before treatment.

8. Liability

The boarder will exercise all reasonable care in looking after the dog but is not liable for illness, injury, loss or death of the dog unless caused by the boarder's negligence. The owner is liable for any damage or injury caused by the dog to third parties, other animals, or the boarder's property during the stay.

9. Photos and social media

Photo sharing is opt-in only. On the booking form, the owner may:

Either consent may be withdrawn at any time by emailing hello@sarahhomeboarding.co.uk.

10. Uncollected dogs

If the dog is not collected within 7 days of the agreed departure date and the owner cannot be contacted, the boarder will consider the dog abandoned and will place it with an appropriate rescue or rehoming charity. All outstanding fees and costs remain payable.

11. Data protection

Owner and dog information is held securely and used only for the purposes of providing this service and meeting animal welfare licensing record-keeping requirements. Records are retained for 7 years after the last booking, as required under the licensing scheme.

The lawful basis for processing is (a) performance of the contract for the boarding service, and (b) our legitimate interest in keeping the records that animal welfare licensing requires. See our privacy notice at /privacy.

12. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
